(UNDATED) – Charges of first degree child abuse have been filed against the mother of a child and her boyfriend.

In a media release, St. Joseph County Prosecutor David Marvin says a 9 month old child was taken to an area hospital with broken ribs and an open wound on its neck.

After an investigation, Marvin says the child’s mother, Amanda Wood and her boyfriend Jason Haskins were arrested. The couple were living together with two children. Investigators says the second child did not have any signs of abuse.

Marvin says the infant’s condition is better.
