Grand Rapids Woman Critical Following Crash In Constantine Township

(CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP) – One person is in critical condition following a one vehicle crash in Constantine Township.

St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says his deputies were called to investigate an accident on North River Road near Winding River Road at 5:15 PM Wednesday. Deputies determined that a 23 year old San Jose, California woman was heading east on North River Road, and went off the right side of
the road. The driver over corrected, causing the vehicle to lose control.

The auto slid sideways across the road and the passenger’s side struck a tree.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 25 year old Grand Rapids woman, was flown by Beacon Memorial Med Flight to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She is listed in critical condition with major traumatic injuries.

The driver was also taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital by Three Rivers Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.

Both women were wearing the seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Assisting deputies were the Constantine and White Pigeon Police Departments, the Constantine Fire Department, and Life Care Ambulance.
