Teenage Bicyclist Hit Near Clear Lake

FREMONT – On Saturday, August 6 just after 3:00 p.m. the Clear Lake Police Department responded to a personal injury accident involving a bicyclist and a car.

The accident occurred at the corner of C.R. 700 E and West Clear Lake Drive within the Clear Lake area.

According to a report by the Clear Lake Police Department, a black 2012 Chevrolet Cruz driven by Joshua Presley 36 of Angola was northbound on CR 700 E approaching the intersection of West Clear Lake Drive when a bicycle operated by Luke Gleave 16 of Fort Wayne was traveling West on Clear Lake Drive.

Gleave failed to stop at the stop sign before turning South onto 700 E and road into the pathway of Presley.

Gleave was treated at the scene by Steuben County EMS and Fremont Fire Rescue before he was flow by the Parkview Samaritan Helicopter to Parkview Reginal Medical Center for head, back and arm injuries.

Clear Lake Police report Gleave is in stable condition as of Monday morning.

Weather conditions and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the accident according to the Clear Lake Police Department.

Assisting the Clear Lake Police Department at the scene were the Steuben County Sherriff’s Department, Steuben County EMS, Fremont Fire/Rescue and Parkview Samaritan helicopter.
