(CENTREVILLE) – Incumbent St. Joseph County Commissioner Kathy Pangle lost her bid for re-election.

In Tuesday’s Primary Election, Pangle was defeated by Rusty Baker 813-678 in the Republican Primary for the District 3 seat on the County Commission.

There was only one other contested race in the Republican Primary, and that was for the District 4 season on the Commission. Two newcomers were on the ballot, and Luis Rosado defeated David J. Hayslip for the nomination 680-608.

Incumbent Jared Hoffmaster in District 1 ran unopposed for the Republican nomination, and received 1,065 votes. Incumbent Dennis Allen was unopposed for the District 5 Republican nomination and received 1,292 votes, while incumbent Ken Malone was also unopposed for the Republican nomination in District 6 and got 498 votes.

Former County Commissioner Rick Shaffer won the Republican nomination for the District 2 seat. He ran unopposed and received 917 votes.

In the Republican Primary for the District 7 County Commission seat, Terry Conklin ran unopposed and received 935 votes.

There was only one Democratic candidate on the ballot. Erin Schultes ran unopposed for his party’s nomination for the District 2 seat. He and Shaffer will face each other in the November General Election.
