Sturgis School Board Approves Employee Contracts

(STURGIS) – Employees of the Sturgis Public Schools have new contracts and for a longer period of time.

During Monday’s special meeting the Sturgis Board of Education was presented with a proposal to approve the teacher contracts and handbooks, along with other employee groups. During a previous Board study session, Sturgis Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert shared that the contracts for all employees of the District would be for four years with no re-openers.

Ebert also shared how the wage structure would be for the teachers under the new contract. ...... {LISTEN}.

In each of the next three years of the contract, there would be a 2 percent increase in wage for all teachers.

Ebert says that same formula was used in the compensation packages for all the other employee group contracts.

Ebert also shares there is the possibility for employees to earn more than the 2 percent. ...... {LISTEN}.

The teachers approved their contract by a 77-1 vote. The other employee groups also approved their contracts.

The Sturgis Board of Education approved the proposed contacts by unanimous votes.
