(CONSTANTINE) - The Constantine School District is bringing a bond proposal to their voters on May 3.

On November 2, 2021, the Constantine Schools presented a bond proposal which was defeated, 646 NO votes to 392 YES votes. That proposal that was asking for an increase of .2 (two-tenths) of a mill, from the current rate of 6.8 to 7 mills.

The new Bond Proposal is again asking for 0.2 (two-tenths) of a mill. School Board member MaRinda Stamp says the increase in the bond amount residents would pay will only be for a short time. ...... {LISTEN}.

If approved the new bond proposal would raise $38.8 million and allow the Constantine School District to continue to improve the facilities to support the students' educational programming.

The main thrust of the improvements will be upgrades to Eastside Elementary School which would allow it to house all Pre-K through Fifth Grade students. The upgrades would include: a partial demolition of the existing building and the construction of a new two story addition and renovations to the remaining structure; new student technology; expanded gym and cafeteria to host large events; flexible classroom seating for multipurpose use; and the installation of air conditioning.

Polls will be open Tuesday from 7 AM until 8 PM.
