(GARRETT) – The Indiana State Police say multiple charges of sexual misconduct with children have been filed against a suspect.

On April 24, the DeKalb County Prosecutor contacted ISP Detectives to follow up on an existing investigation that had been started April 7 by the Garrett Police Department. The original complaint alleged that 30 year old Tyler Hanna of Garrett had engaged in sexual conduct with several girls between the ages of 8 and 16 over a three year period, beginning in May 2019. The children had been under his care.

ISP Detectives gathered enough detailed information to establish probable cause for the arrest of Hanna as related to the criminal allegations lodged against him.

Hanna was arrested on Tuesday without incident and taken to the DeKalb County Jail. He is charged with two counts of child molestation; and one count each of sexual misconduct with a minor; child seduction and child exploitation. These are all felony charges.

The is an active criminal investigation. Assisting the Indiana State Police are the Auburn Police Department, the DeKalb County-Department of Child Services, the Dr. Bill Lewis Child Advocacy Center, and the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center.
