(CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP) – More Information has been released regarding the Monday morning fire that took the lives of two children.

Michigan State Police were called to the 14,000 block of Timm Road at 12:21 AM Monday for a report of a structure fire with two children inside. Troopers say when they arrived, the structure was fully engulfed in flames.

The Constantine and Fabius-Park Township Fire Departments put out the blaze, and when it was searched, authorities found the two children, a four year old boy and a three year old girl.

Detective-Sergeant Todd Peterson of the Michigan State Police say when they questioned the children's mother, she told Troopers when the fire broke out, she grabbed a one year old child and got outside.

While searching the structure for a cause of the fire, State Police say they found a wood stove, which may have been where the fire started from. The investigation is continuing.

While talking to several adults who were in the area, Peterson says many of them would not answer questions and didn't want to get involved.

Troopers also say they found evidence of drug use that had been going on in the area.
