(BURR OAK) – Authorities are continuing to investigate a felony assault that happened in the Village of Burr Oak.

St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says his deputies responded to a call about a felony assault with a firearm between a woman and a man in the 600 block of West Front Street at 10 AM on Friday. Deputies arrived and with the help of the St. Joseph County Special Response Team, made contact with the female suspect, who was still inside the residence.

The woman was eventually turned over to medical units at the scene for unrelated issues. The male victim was not injured.

Assisting deputies at the scene were the Colon Police, the Michigan State Police and Life Care Ambulance.
