(COLDWATER) – A Sturgis man has entered a plea deal in the hit and run death of a teenager.

Branch County Circuit Court officials say 43 year old Daniel Silich plead no contest to charges of manslaughter with a motor vehicle, failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death and tampering with evidence. Eight other charges against Silich were dismissed as part of the plea deal.

Silich was driving on Ralston Road in Sherwood Township April 5, 2021 when he struck 13 year old Landen Risner, his 14 year old sister and his 7 year old brother. The siblings were riding their bikes on the side of the road when they were struck. Silich then left the scene.

All three of the children were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Landen Risner died two weeks later.

Silich was arrested in May 2021 following an investigation by the Michigan State Police. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 2.
