(THREE RIVERS) – Approximately 75 nurses at Three Rivers Health are working without a contract.

According to WSBT TV, the contracts for these nurses expired April 1, and they will be meeting today to resume negotiations with Beacon Health Systems. Talks have been going on between the nurses and Beacon Health officials since mid-March.

The Michigan Nursing Association says they are asking Beacon Health System for what they call up to date wages, reflecting the nurses value and loyalty to Three Rivers Health.

According to some of the nurses, Three Rivers Health is trying to take away overtime and incentive for over hours. With staff numbers down, some nurses who normally work 8 to 12 hours shifts may be asked to work 16 hour shifts with short notice given.
