(CONSTANTINE) – Proposed ballot language for three special assessments was presented to the Constantine Village Council during their Monday meeting.

Village Manager Mark Honeysett says he received ballot language from attorney Catherine Kauffman earlier in the day and presented it to the Council for them to look it over. Originally the talk had been to have one ballot with all three special assessments to present to the voters. But Honeysett says during further discussions, the idea was to have the three assessments presented individually. ...... {LISTEN}.

Honeysett explains why they like the idea of three separate ballot proposals instead of all three on one. ...... {LISTEN}.

Honeysett said if the Village Council wants to bring these proposals to the voters during the August Primary, they would need to get the ballot language to St. Joseph County Clerk Lindsay Oswald by May 10. By getting the proposals now, it gives the Council time to look them over and make changes if they need to.

The Council agreed to discuss the proposals during their next meeting, scheduled for April 18.
