(CENTREVILLE) – St. Joseph County Intermediate School District Superintendent Dr. Teresa Belote received high marks during her recent evaluation.

During last week's meeting, the ISD Board of Education held a closed session to do Belote's annual evaluation. Following that session, the Board announced that Belote received a “Highly Effective” rating, and her contract would be extended.

Belote has been the ISD Superintendent since 2017.

Belote was evaluated in five areas: Working collaboratively with ISD leadership, local superintendents and external partners to improve social-emotional and academic outcomes for students; Gathering input and feedback from multiple internal and external stakeholders to inform decision making and support learning at local levels along with sharing information with stakeholders; Cultivating shared leadership around curriculum development and educational best practices; Working with leadership to help develop systems that will ensure internal compliance and offer support to local schools that's based on identified needs; and Identifying and working with stakeholders to help support a positive, inclusive and safe work culture.

ISD Board President Elizabeth O'Dell released a statement saying that Dr. Belote has a unique gift that allows her to have critical conversations, which in turn keeps the student's interest at the center of the discussion.
