(LANSING) – Incumbent Michigan State Senator Kim LaSata has received the endorsement of local law enforcement and prosecutors in her bid for re-election.

LaSata, who currently serves the 21st Michigan State Senate District, has announced that she will run for re-election in the newly created 17th State Senate District. That will include all of St. Joseph, Branch and Cass Counties, along with the southern half of Berrien County, the western portion of Hillsdale County, the eastern section of Calhoun County and the western part of Jackson County.

LaSata says she has been steadfast in her support of police, fire and other first responders who risk their lives everyday to protect the public. She says she will work hard to give them the necessary resources they need to do their jobs and return safely to their homes and families.

In addition to the Sheriff's of the newly created 17th State Senate District, LaSata says she's proud to have the support of the seven County Prosecutors as well. She says fighting violent crime, supporting victims and respecting our Constitution reflect the shared values and principles she and the Prosecutors have, and she will continue to be a strong advocate for law and order.
