(BRANCH COUNTY) – Another person has thrown their hat into the political ring for 2022.

Branch County resident Jonathan Lindsey announced this week that following the selection of the new State legislative maps, he is a candidate for the newly created Michigan State Senate 17th District. The new district includes, St. Joseph, Branch and Cass Counties, along with portions of Berrien, Calhoun, Hillsdale and Jackson Counties.

Lindsey is a Branch County native, who returned home after earning a degree in Political Science from Yale University, spending time in the United States Army Special Forces and then working all over the world as an executive in the private sector. He says Southern Michigan is his home and it was here that he was inspired to volunteer his own life to defend this great Republic.

Lindsey says he’s watched with growing frustration as people of the district have been neglected by their government at the local, state and federal levels. He’s also watched as the elected officials tasked with safeguarding liberty have too often ignored their oaths and abandoned the people they serve.

Lindsey will be running against incumbent State Senator Kim LaSata, who represents the 21st District of St. Joseph, Cass and a portion of Berrien County. The 21st District will be incorporated into the new 17th State Senate District.
