(BRONSON) – The City of Bronson is planning on flushing their fire hydrants October 18 and October 19.

Bronson City Manager Brandon Mersman says this is being done to keep up with the practice of regular water main cleaning for the City.

The flushing will start at 12:01 AM on Monday October 18 for the Northern section of the City. This is for all the hydrants north of U.S. 12. Then on Tuesday October 19 at 12:01 AM, hydrants in the Southern section of Bronson will be flushed. That is all of the hydrants south of U.S. 12.

Mersman says the City apologizes for any inconveniences the flushing may cause. On occasion, the water in the areas of flushing may temporarily have a reddish or orange rusty appearance. This is because flushing can disturb iron sediment in the water pipes and cause discoloration.

If this occurs, Mersman says to run the cold water at the tap closest to your water meter for several minutes to clear your lines.

Merman also advises the public to refrain from doing laundry during the two days the flushing will be taking place.
