CHA Offering Pfizer Booster Doses

(COLDWATER) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is offering Pfizer vaccine booster doses.

CHA Medical Director Dr. Karen Luparello says the Pfizer booster will be available to residents who previously received two doses of the vaccine, with the second dose being at least six months ago. In addition, you must also meet at least one of the following criteria to receive the booster: 1. You are age 65 or older or 2. you are an individual who is 18 years of age or older with underlying medical conditions identified by the Centers For Disease Control.

3. Another criteria is you are at least 18 years old and live in a high-risk setting, considering your individual risks and benefits. 4. The final criteria is you are an individual at least 18 years old who works in a high-risk setting: such as a first responder, education staff, food and agricultural worker, manufacturing worker, corrections worker, U.S. Postal Service worker, public transit worker or grocery store worker.

The CHA will be hosting larger scale community booster clinics in the coming weeks. In order to schedule your booster dose at one of the local CHA offices, you can go on line. Click Here. Clinics this week will be Wednesday October 6 in Coldwater from 3 PM to 6 PM; Thursday October 7 in Three Rivers from 9 AM until 1 PM, and on Saturday, October 9 in Hillsdale from 9 AM until 12 PM.

Luparello says this is only for individuals who received the Pfizer vaccine. If you received the Moderna or the Johnson & Johnson vaccines, Luparello says the FDA and the CDC will be giving additional directions on when those booster shots will be available and needed.
