Citizen Asks City Commission To Address Homeless Issue

(STURGIS) – A woman is asking the City Commission to look at and address the homeless issue in Sturgis.

During Wednesday's meeting, Gladys Crafts spoke to the Commissioners about concerns she has with the homeless population in Sturgis. She says the community needs to work together to address the situation because it is getting out of hand.

Crafts, who is the manager of a laundromat, say she recently had a run in with a homeless person. ...... {LISTEN}.

Crafts says this isn't the first time this has happened to her. ...... {LISTEN}.

Commissioner Rick Bir shared that there was an incident with a homeless person at the Sturges-Young Center For The Arts recently. Executive Director Sheila Bolda was there alone and went to investigate a noise. There was a homeless person urinating inside the back door.

The Commissioners agreed to hold a work session soon and discuss what can be done.
