(BURR OAK) – Burr Oak Township is going to look into allowing recreational marijuana businesses to operate in their boundaries.

During their meeting Monday evening, the Burr Oak Township Board voted 3-2 to have the attorney they have been working with prepare a sample ordinance that would let recreational marijuana businesses open their doors in the Township.

Township Attorney Lance Thornton shared with the Township Board that was one of the options available to them. ...... {LISTEN}.

Thornton says that first draft will then be reviewed by the Board. ...... {LISTEN}.

Thornton says the other option for the Township would be to do nothing, and let the public submit a petition to bring the matter to a vote.

The Township Board asked Thornton to contact the other attorney and have him come up with a sample ordinance, and bring that back to a future meeting.
