(PORTER TOWNSHIP) – Three teens were injured in a one vehicle accident over the weekend.

According to the Cass County Sheriff's Department, 17 year old Emily Avery of Three Rivers was driving south on M-40, just north of Teasdale Lake Road at 7:35 Saturday night, when her vehicle went off the road. Avery over corrected, colliding with an embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn and land on its roof.

Emily Avery was flown to South Bend Memorial Hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Her passengers, 15 year old Sydney Avery of Three Rivers and 18 year old Madelyn Courtney of Chicago, Illinois, were both taken to Elkhart General Hospital and received care for their injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the Newberg Fire and EMS along with the SEPSA Fire Department and EMS.

Deputies say seat belts do not appear to have been used by the occupants of the vehicle, and intoxicating substances may have been a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
