Kendallville Shooting Suspect In Custody

(KENDALLVILLE) – A suspect wanted in connection with a weekend shooting that left one person dead and two others injured is in custody.

During a Wednesday morning press conference, Kendallville Police Chief Lance Waters announced an arrest has been made. ...... {LISTEN}.

The Ohio State officers found 24 year old Matthew Rodriguez was in the rest plaza. He barricaded himself in the bathroom. More officers, including a SWAT Team and a negotiator were called in. Shortly before 5 AM, Rodriguez was taken into custody.

He is being held in a facility near Athens, Ohio.

Waters says officers with his department and the Noble County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call just before midnight Sunday of a reported shooting at Gallops, 1215 West North Street in Kendallville. The caller advised there were several people shot and one shooter, who had left the scene.

Mowery says the process has been started to extradite Rodriguez back to Indiana.
