(UNDATED) – Two people were taken to the hospital following a three vehicle crash.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office says that 53 year old Richard Gruse of Granger was driving north on County Road 5, approaching County Road 1, at 4:35 Tuesday afternoon. A second vehicle, driven by 62 year old Kirk Bradford of Edwardsburg, Michigan was following Gruse.

Deputies says 27 year old Gabrielle Parrott of Elkhart was traveling southeast on County Road 5. She crossed the center line, causing Gruse to swerve off the road, striking a wood post.

Parrott's vehicle then collided head on with Bradford's automobile.

Parrott was arrested by officers for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated prior, and for unsafe lane movement driving while suspended. She was taken to Elkhart General Hospital complaining of chest pain.

Bradford was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital complaining of pain. Gruse was not injured.
