Wilson Resigns As Chamber Director

(STURGIS) – For the second time in 2021, the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce has a new Executive Director.

In a media release, Executive Director Mike Wilson announced that he is resigning from the position. Wilson spoke with Swick Broadcasting, and explains this was a tough decision for him, but a wonderful opportunity presented itself to once again work for and with veterans. ...... {LISTEN}.

Wilson, who was selected to be the Chamber Executive Director in January 2021, has accepted an opportunity to create programming to support veterans in the community and across Michigan.

During Tuesday's meeting the Chamber Board of Directors voted to have Roxanne Persing of Sturgis succeed Wilson as Executive Director. Wilson says Persing, a Sturgis native and teacher with the Sturgis School District, has a good background for this position. ...... {LISTEN}.

Persing says she is excited for this opportunity and has always felt like she should give back to her community. She says this is a great place to do that.

Persing will officially begin her new duties on July 6. Wilson's last day will be July 23.

Also during Tuesday's meeting the Chamber Board of Directors accepted a nomination to retain Wilson as a Board member, for the remainder of the term vacated by another Board member. The term runs until the end of 2022.
