SHS Holds Senior Honors Ceremony

(STURGIS) – The Sturgis High School Class of 2021 was the center of attention during Thursday's Senior Honors Ceremony.

The event was held in the High School gym with Principal Nick Herblet introducing the ten Senior Class Representatives, along with Tremaine Brown, who was the evening's Class Speaker.

Evening awards included recognizing Carter Borkholder as the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen; twelve Exchange Club Students of the Month; International Exchange Student Alina Juergens from Germany; seven Peer Assistance Team Members; Ezra Geroux, Jacob Haller, and Garrett Meyer for earning the rank of Eagle Scout; eight President’s Education Awards winners; ninety Michigan Scholars; Department Award recipients; seventy-seven seniors for High Academic Honors; and a slew of students who received college scholarships.

As of May 6th, the Sturgis High School Senior Class has earned $1,381,340 in college scholarships, $163,540 in foundation and service club scholarships, and $116,000 in potential Michigan Competitive Scholarships. In all, this equates to $1,660, 880 in awards.

One of the largest senior honors in 2021 was a $10,000 scholarship provided by Level Data, Inc. out of Kalamazoo. It went to Brenda Garcia Lopez who plans to attend Glen Oaks Community College before transferring to a four year university. Level Data is an education software development company that helps thousands of school districts nationwide maximize their data management and reporting needs.
