(GIRARD TOWNSHIP) – A two vehicle crash Monday morning took the life of a Bronson woman.

According to the Branch County Sheriff's Department, 79 year old Janet Danklefsen was driving north on River Road just after 9:30 AM. She failed to stop at the intersection of Union City Road and struck a vehicle driven by 30 year old Luke Renshaw of Union City, who was heading east.

Danklefsen's vehicle went 200 feet into a corn field and burst into flames. Witnesses to the crash pulled Danklefsen from the vehicle. CPR was performed on her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Renshaw was transported to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Assisting deputies at the scene were the Coldwater Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Life Care Ambulance and the Branch County Road Commission.
