Friday morning sports


Weather wiped out most of yesterday’s high school sports schedule. The Lakeland-Fairfield girls tennis match was rescheduled for April 20th. Lakeland’s softball game with NorthWood will be rescheduled later. The Westview-Jimtown baseball game was rescheduled for April 21st at 10 a-m.
West Noble’s track meet with Wawasee was canceled with no makeup date. West Noble’s girls tennis match with Bethany Christian was rescheduled for April 12th. Westview’s girls tennis match with Northridge was canceled – no make up date. Northridge baseball at West Noble is cancelled.

Cubs 8, Miami 4 – PBP: Cubs 1-0/Happ Opening Day Homer Pat Hughes on WSCR as second baseman Ian Happ homers on the first pitch of the 2018 season off pitcher Jose Urena to give the Cubs the lead in the top of the first inning over the Miami Marlins. Chicago went on to win 8-4.
White Sox 14, Kansas City 7 – PBP: White Sox 14-4/Davidson 3-Run HR, 3rd Of The Game – Ed Farmer on WGN Radio as Matt Davidson's three run home run, his third of the game, extends the White Sox lead to 14-4 over the Kansas City Royals. Chicago went on to win the game 14-7.

Andreas Athanasiou extends the Red Wings lead over the Sabres 4-2. The Detroit Red Wings beat the Buffalo Sabres 6-3.

Local accountant Scott Foster makes his NHL debut as an emergency goaltender for the Blackhawks. The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Winnipeg Jets 6-2.
