Braun beats Donnelly; Prairie Heights referendum passes

LAGRANGE – Voters in the Prairie Heights School District approved a tax referendum on Tuesday.
There were 2,078 yes votes to 1379 no votes.
The referendum will raise local property taxes to pay for school operational costs like teacher salaries.
Indiana’s Senate seat flipped as Mike Braun defeated Democrat incumbent Joe Donnelly.
Northeast Indiana Congressman Jim Banks won re-election over Democrat Courtney Tritch.
Peter Cook defeated challenger Daniel Gould for the District 4 LaGrange County council seat. Cook – the incumbent – got 74% of the votes.
Republicans took both LaGrange Town Council races. Catie Jo Gayheart beat Suellyn Mickem 320-292 and Fred Romer topped Edna Bowser 370-247.
Joshua Weimer won the Shipshewana Town Council race over Lynn Bontrager 118-98.
Chadwick Bender won the Van Buren seat on the Westview School Board, defeating Douglas Minix 1016-427.
