UNDATED – A police pursuit that began in Branch County and ended in St. Joseph County Wednesday has landed a 19 year old woman behind bars.
The Branch County Sheriff's Department says deputies attempted to serve a warrant at a house on Preston Street on the south side of Coldwater as part of an investigation. The pursuit started at that time as the female suspect got to Garfield Road and then eventually to U.S. 12 and she drove west, with speeds going over 100 MPH.
Bronson Police officers put down stop sticks, but the suspect avoided them, driving through some neighborhoods in Bronson before getting back on to U.S. 12 and continuing west.
The suspect entered Sturgis where Sturgis Police and the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department joined in the chase, which went to Fawn River Road, west to Centreville Road and then north into the Meijer parking lot. The suspect then went south on Centreville, east on Fawn River Road and then north onto Lakeview Avenue, where she finally stopped at the intersection of South Street.
The suspect, 19 year old Alexandria Stolte, was arraigned Thursday in Branch County District Court on a charge of illegal use of a financial device, after she allegedly stole a debit card. Her bond is $125,000.
She was also charged with failure to appear for a pre-trial conference on another theft charge and failure to take court ordered drug tests. She plead guilty to contempt for failure to appear and received a 30 day jail sentence on that charge.
