Home sales down, prices up in Indiana

LAGRANGE – Indiana home prices were up in September from a year ago.
Statewide the median price of $160,000 is up 6.7 percent from last year. The average price was up 6.6 percent.
Statewide sales were down 3.6 percent from a year ago.
In LaGrange County the median sales price of $153,950 was down 1.2 percent from a year ago. Twelve homes sold in September compared to 18 a year ago.
Year-to-date sales in LaGrange are down nearly seven percent from last year at this time. The median price of $158,250 is up half a percent.
Indiana Association of Realtors President John De Souza of South Bend says low supply and consumer optimism continue to drive markets around the state. He sellers can still get very close to their asking price making it a great time to sell.
