Venus Stewart's body finally recovered

FULTON, MI – Venus Stewart went missing in April of 2010.
More than eight years later, her remains are now recovered. Forensic crews finished up their work in a wooded area near Fulton in Kalamazoo County.
NewsChannel 3 in Kalamazoo reports Doug Stewart – the husband who is serving a life sentence for Venus’ death – bargained with detectives to lead them to the burial site in exchange for a couple of perks in prison.
Doug Stewart told them he marked the site with two stumps, and investigators found the body within several hours of searching.
Venus Stewart disappeared April 26, 2010. She had separated from her husband and she and her children moved in with her parents in Colon. She accused Doug Stewart of moletsing their daughter.
Doug Stewart was found guilty of first degree murder and conspiracy to commit first degree murder in March 2011. During his trial, it was brought out that Stewart had befriended Ricky Spencer, who lived in Virginia, through an online game. Stewart conviced Spencer to pretend to be him in Virginia, while Stewart himself drove back to Michigan and evenutally kidnapped and killed Venus.
Up until recently Stewart said he was innocent.
During a series of interviews with WWMT, Stewart said it was time to admit the truth and said he indeed killed his wife and hid her body. He said he felt remorse and it was time for him to tell the truth.
The Venus Foundation, an organization that was founded by Venus' family members to help locate missing people, posted a message on their Facebook page, saying there are so happy Venus' body has been found. It says prayers go out to Venus' family, and a big thanks to everyone for their prayers and for everyone who helped search for Venus.
