STURGIS – The City of Sturgis will sell off lots for development.
The City Commission held a closed session to discuss the selling of lots in the City Subdivision II area. City Manager Mike Hughes says the city will sell ten lots to developers Paul Comino and Jim Lincoln for $3,500 per lot. That's $1500 less than the City had originally agreed to sell for.
They will be modular homes costing between $130,000 and $180,000. Lincoln says potential buyers can add to the homes with such items as bay windows and kitchen spacing.
Hughes says the agreement calls for five lots to be used as staging for potential buyers so people could see the style of houses that are available. The other five lots would then be used to build houses for individuals.
City Commissioners hope this will create interest in buying some of the other lots in that area.
