CENTREVILLE – The Glen Oaks Community College Board of Trustees is searching for a new member.
During their meeting Thursday morning, the Board reluctantly accepted the resignation of Mary Lou Falkenstein, who announced she was stepping down due to health reasons, effective March 20.
Board President Bruce Gosling presented a resolution to honor Falkenstein for her time on the Board along with a $500 scholarship in her name.
Glen Oaks is now seeking nominations to fill Falkenstein's seat on the board. Nominees should be a qualified and registered elector of the community college district.
The person selected will serve until the next scheduled election on November 20, 2018. At that time, the trustee would have the option to run for election to fill the remainder of the term, which is until 2020.
In 2020, the seat would be up for election for a normal six year term.
If you are interested in being considered for this seat, you must contact the office of Glen Oaks President Dr. David Devier by 3 PM on March 17.
The Nomination Committee will meet March 20 to review the candidates and then make a recommendation during the Board Meeting on April 13.
