Sturgis man injured when motorcycle hits raccoon

NEWBERG TOWNSHIP – A Sturgis man was injured in a motorcycle accident over the weekend.

According to the Cass County Sheriff's Department, 37 year old Jeremy Tomlinson was traveling west in the 15,000 block of Quaker Street in Newberg Township at 11:29 PM Saturday and struck a raccoon, causing him to crash.

Tomlinson walked to a nearby house for assistance. The homeowners called 911.

Tomlinson was taken to Three Rivers Health to be treated for his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

Assisting at the scene were the Newberg Township Fire and Ambulance.
