KENDALLVILLE — Julia Tipton, a recognized leader in developing and building educational programs, is the new executive director of the Community Learning Center in Kendallville.

She began the job Monday.

Tipton will oversee efforts to open the Community Learning Center and fulfill its mission of helping individuals of all ages improve their independence and self-sufficiency through collaborative, multigenerational
programs.

As executive director, Tipton will work alongside Project Manager Tim Holcomb in preparing the Community Learning Center for its opening. She also will oversee the development of programs at the center that promote education and lifelong learning, skill development, creative expression, and health
and wellness.

In advance of the center’s opening, the Board of Directors is asking community members for their ideas to name the facility located at the corner of Diamond and Riley streets in Kendallville. Suggestions can be submitted via the center’s Facebook page, facebook.com/thecommunitylearningcenter, or emailed to Barry Rochford at the Dekko Foundation, brochford@dekkofoundation.org.
