Plane crash kills pilot, knocks out power in Noble Co.

GOSHEN – The pilot killed in Thursday night’s plane crash near Goshen is from Middlebury.

55-year-old Neal Myers was apparently practicing approaches to the Goshen airport when the plane struck a high tension power line and crashed.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office says it happened at 8:08 p-m about 550 yards west of County Road 33 between County Roads 40 and 42.

Witnesses said the Piper 4 aircraft caught fire after crashing.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash which knocked out power to thousands of residents in western Noble County.
