Multiple arrests for teen drinking in Lagrange, Elkhart counties

UNDATED – Police in LaGrange and Elkhart County had to deal with cases of teenage drinking over the weekend.

In LaGrange County a deputy stopped a speeding car on the north side of Lagrange just after midnight Saturday. There were several people in the vehicle, but none were 21 years old and there was a large amount of alcohol in the vehicle.

Three people tested positive for alcohol consumption. Among them, 20-year-old Marlin Miller of Goshen and 19-year-old Joanna Fry of Topeka were taken into custody for minor consuming. A minor under age 18 was released to their parents and will go through juvenile court.

In Elkhart County police responded to complaints of a loud party near Nappanee just before midnight Saturday.

They cited 21 persons between 18 and 20 years old for minor consuming. Among them were David Yoder of Middlebury, Lyndon Byler of Goshen, Erica Fry of Shipshewana, Sarahann Schrock of Goshen, Toby Detweiler of Shipshewana, Freeman Yoder Jr. of Ligonier, Jeremy Yoder of Middlebury and Issac Miller of Middlebury.

Twenty others under the age of 18 were released to their parents. Two of those were taken to Goshen Hospital of treatment of excessive consumption. Police officers and medics removed multiple persons who had passed out from cold vehicles.
