SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP – Multiple charges have been filed against a man in a homicide investigation of a child in Silver Creek Township.
Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz says 46 year old Lance Aaron Reeves of Dowagiac was arrested Thursday at a residence in Hartford by the Fifth District Michigan State Police Fugitive Apprehension Team.
Reeves' arrest was made in connection with the investigation into the death of a child, two year old Savannah Gardner, on or about October 19, 2016. The matter was investigated by Michigan State Police from the Niles Detachment.
Fitz says Reeves was arraigned in Cass County District Court Friday on charges of Open Murder along with two counts of Second Degree Child Abuse and one count of Third Degree Child Abuse. It's alleged that Gardner repeatedly and violently shook Savannah, breaking her back.
Reeves entered a plea of not guilty. He is being held without bond in the Cass County Jail. A preliminary examination is scheduled for January 23.
