Commission races in St. Joe County set


CENTREVILLE – The slate of candidates for seats on the St. Joseph County Commission in the November General Election is set.

Voters in Tuesday's Primary Election chose Judy Nelson as the Democratic candidate to run for the District 3 Commission seat. She defeated Tim Carls 410 to 310 to get the Party's nomination. Nelson will face Republican incumbent Dennis Allen this fall. Allen ran unopposed for the Republican nomination and received 1,088 votes.

District 3 includes Florence, Lockport, Nottawa and Sherman Townships.

In the race for the Republican nomination for the District 4 seat, incumbent Daniel Czajkowski defeated Joshua Goodrich 534-370. At present time, there is no Democratic challenger for the District 4 seat.

District 4 is made up of Constantine, Sturgis, Mottville and White Pigeon Townships.

In District 5 which includes the City of Sturgis and Fawn River Township, Ken Malone received the Republican nomination with 680 votes. He will face Democratic challenger Richard Homan who collected 346 votes.

Running unopposed for the Republican nominations were incumbent Commissioners Allen Balog in District 1 (862 votes); and Kathy Pangle in District 2 (1,082 votes).
