East Maume (US20) in Angola reconstructions begins

ANGOLA -- Starting Wednesday, July 11th, those traveling east of the City of Angola will need to be planning a new route.

The Indiana Department of Transportation will be starting their restoration of E. Maumee St. (US Hwy 20) on Wednesday. Traveling on East Maumee Street will be limited and often restricted at the worst between July 11th and sometime in November.

Angola Mayor Richhard Hickman urges the community to keep doing business with Cameron Community Hospital, Corkle Auto Sales, First Federal Savings and Loan, Speedway Gas Station, Yoder Fuller Ford, Baidinger Financial Services, Studio M Massage, Rocco Beauty Shop, Rockin' Productions, Aptica LLC, Trilogy Financial and NEI Glass during this construction period. He says "they will need your patronage now more than ever".

During Construction, Hickman says that the easiest routes going east will be to go north on Williams Street to Mechanic Street. he also sugest going by way of Calvary Lane and turn right to 100 East and then go south on 100 East back to US HWY 20.

INDOT will put up signs to re-route truck traffic. East Maumee Street will be closed east of the Speedway Gas Station, which means Clyde Avenue will not be available for entrance or exit off of Maumee Street.

Hickman also stated that the entrance to the Timber Frame Pavilion, Commons Park and Circle Hill Cemetery can be made through Don R Sell Lane, which runs by Friendship Park.

Drivers are encouraged to bring extra "patience" when driving this portion of 20 through the city of Angola in the months to come.
