FAWN RIVER TOWNSHIP – A special dedication ceremony will be held this weekend.

Four Civil War veterans who died at the St. Joseph County Infirmary, and have laid in unmarked graves for over 100 years will be honored. Anne Davis of the Michiana Veterans Honors Program says Levi Fuller, John H. Moore, George Detwiler and John Dennes all served honorably and helped shape our nation.

The ceremony will be at 2 PM on Sunday at the Fawn River Township Cemetery, were new grave stones will be dedicated for these four veterans. Davis says the service will be an exact replica of the service they would have received at the time of their deaths.

Participating in the dedication will be the Sons Of Union Veterans of the Civil War, March To The Sea Camp #135; Daughters of the American Revolution LaGrange deLafayette Chapter; Tri-State Genealogy and the Michigan Army National Guard Honor Guard. Several of these organizations will also be dressed in attire appropriate to the Civil War Era.

The public is welcome to attend.
