Man who struggled with DeKalb deputy out of hospital and in jail


AUBURN – A man who was shot during an altercation with police more than two months ago is now out of the hospital and in custody.

Joshua Mumma was hospitalized following the April 10th incident in Garrett that also wounded a DeKalb County sheriff’s deputy. Indiana State Police say Mumma was booked at the DeKalb County Jail following his release from a Fort Wayne hospital. He was then transferred to the the Allen County Jail to await trial.

Prosecutors charged Mumma with two counts of attempted murder by firearm, disarming a law enforcement officer, dealing methamphetamine, and being a habitual offender.

Deputy Todd McCormick is back at work but still recovering from serious gunshot wounds to his hands.
