Area unemployment rates rise in January


INDIANAPOLIS – LaGrange and Elkhart Counties have the lowest jobless rates in Indiana once again.

Both came in at 2.4 percent for January. In LaGrange County, that was an increase from 2 percent in December and from 2.1 percent for Elkhart County.

Unemployment in Noble County rose from 2.6 percent in December to 3.1 percent in January.

DeKalb County’s rate went from 2.4 percent to 2.9 percent.
