Ligonier man dies in one vehicle crash

LIGONIER – Slippery roads were a factor in a one vehicle crash that eventually became a fatality.

Noble County police along with Topeka firefighters responded to 1075 North and 350 West at 3:49 Friday morning.

The initial call said the driver was alert and uninjured but was pinned in the vehicle.

But when rescue units arrived they found 57-year-old Kelly Napier of Ligonier was pinned and also injured.

A wrecker was needed to pull the vehicle away from a tree so that firefighters could extricate Napier from the wreckage.

He was being taken by medics to Parkview Regional Medical Center when he went into cardiac arrest. Napier was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police are awaiting toxicology results but say weather conditions were a factor in the crash.
