Warrant service leads to five arrests

STURGIS – Police went to a Sturgis house to arrest one person and ended up taking five people into custody.

The St. Joseph County Area Narcotics Unit went to the 500 block of Susan Avenue to apprehend Renee Garten on an outstanding narcotics warrant. Garten was inside and refused to come out.

SCAN Officers obtained a search warrant for the home and located several items related to narcotics use and distribution.

Garten along with two other women and two men were arrested and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail on narcotics violations related to meth and marijuana.

Assisting at the house were the Sturgis and White Pigeon Police Departments along with the St. Joseph County Road Patrol.
