Drones lead officers to man who ran from police


GARRETT – The eyes in the sky led police to man who fled into a woods following a pursuit early Saturday morning near Garrett.

DeKalb County deputies pursued a vehicle to the area of County Road 327 and County Road 72 around 5 a-m before the driver fled on foot.

Officers from DeKalb and Allen Counties set up a perimeter and a police dog tracked the suspect to a wooded area.

Noble County Deputies Shafter Baker and Brandon Chordas used infrared camera to locate a heat signature in the woods and guide officers on the ground to the area where they took 37-year-old Nathan Conn of Waterloo into custody.

He faces DeKalb County charges related to the pursuit as well as a warrant for battery from Noble County.
