Stay Issued In Lockport Township Case

2017-09-13

(CENTREVILLE) – A stay has been issued in the appeal of Lockport Township.

St. Joseph County District Court officials say on Monday, Judge Jeff Middleton issued the stay in the appeal process. Lockport Township is seeking a reversal of a ruling by the Michigan State Boundary Commission that would allow the City of Three Rivers to annex 80 acres of property.

Middleton’s ruling will give both the attorney's for City of Three Rivers and Lockport Township time to submit the needed briefs in the case.

A hearing has been scheduled for January 12.

Lockport Township has been trying to stop Three Rivers from annexing the property for the multi-sports complex, called The Field Of Dreams. Township officials and residents say they are not opposed to the complex, they would just like it located in another place.
