Man suffers head injury in leap from van

SOUTH MILFORD – A jump from a moving vehicle sent a Sturgis man to the hospital Tuesday night.

The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department says 40-year-old Jason VanHoozer was flown by Samaritan to Parkview Regional Medical Center with a head injury.

They say VanHoozer exited the mini van driven by 40-year-old Sabrina Jones of Kendallville as it was heading west on County Road 750 South about three miles east of South Milford.

Police don’t know why VanHoozer, who was riding in the front passenger seat, exited the vehicle while it was in motion.

Stroh firefighters and Parkview medics assisted at the scene.
