Sturgis Bark Park opens

STURGIS – After 15 months of planning and construction, the grand opening for the Sturgis Bark Park in Depot Park on West Main Street took place yesterday.

Eric Thurston, a member of the Bark Park Committee, says he is impressed by how quickly this project was completed. He thanked the Bark Park Committee for all of the work they did.

Citizens made contributions through a crowdfunding campaign with Patronicity. Sturgis received the $12,000 from the MEDC, after raising over $14,000 locally.

The Sturgis Area Community Foundation also contributed funds towards the project.

The park features a large dog section and a smaller dog section. There are also watering stations with running water and waste stations in both areas.
