(COLDWATER) – A Branch County man is facing multiple charges following a five month investigation.
Branch County District Court officials say 44 year old Kenneth Traver of Coldwater is charged with four counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material; two counts of using a computer to commit a crime and one count of aggravated child sexually abusive activity.
Michigan State Police started their investigation in late June. A trooper was using software that will detect known files of child sexually abusive material. He started to download a video and found out it was from a man in Coldwater.
Troopers got search warrants for Traver’s home and conducted interviews with him.
Branch County District Court documents say that the Michigan Cyber Command Center’s search of Traver’s laptop found over 49,000 pictures and 20 videos of child sex abuse.
Traver plead not guilty to the charges during his arraignment on Friday. Bond was set at $75,000. If he is able to post bond, Traver is not to have any kind of contact with any minor child. He was also ordered to not possess or use any electronic device that could connect to the internet.
Traver is scheduled to have a probable cause hearing on December 5 and a preliminary hearing on December 11.
