(ALGANSEE TOWNSHIP) – The driver of a motorcycle was injured after striking a deer in Branch County’s Algansee Township.

The Branch County Sheriff’s Department was called out at 4 PM Friday to the area of Fisher and Ferguson Roads. They determined that 48 year old James Taylor of Sherwood struck a deer that darted out in front of him. The bike then fell over and Taylor struck his face on the pavement.

Taylor was treated at the scene by Life Care Ambulance and was then flown from the scene by West Michigan Air Care. Also helping was the Quincy Fire Department.

Taylor was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which is still under investigation.
